Ian Soutar

Ian Soutar, Youth and Adult Highland Teacher

Ian has been dancing since 1997 when he first saw the sword dance being performed at the local mall. After a year of Scottish country dance, he entered a lifetime of Highland dance and competed across southern British Columbia and northern Washington. In 2004, he competed in Scotland with the Aberdeen School of Highland Dance.

During his Literature studies at uOttawa, one of his favourite professors introduced him to Dance Fusion Studios, and after a year of drop-in classes, he was delighted to join the team teaching Beginner and Beginner-Advanced highland. He has been taking ballet and contemporary classes at the studio, and has since completed his Associate's certification in highland.

In his spare time, Ian enjoys sewing, fishing, foraging, birdwatching and playing the ukulele.
